The challenge is not the act, it’s the frequency. It’s desperately needed in the world today, where empathy, kindness, and respect seem to be in short supply. It’s free, it’s simple, it’s within your control, and it’s rooted in who your mother wants you to be. Always Be Nice. You will smile more, stress less, grow stronger, love harder, and share our one unifier-humanity. Always be nice.
THE HISTORY OF ALWAYS BE NICE
Always Be Nice started as a neon sign that we created of the same slogan in an office in New York City. The sign reminded anyone who entered the space to interact with each other using patience, kindness and empathy. It quickly turned into a decision to produce stickers of the unique sign and slogan and hand them out to people – mostly strangers – who did something kind to ourselves or to others. Almost immediately, we witnessed the amount of joy that a simple little slogan could illicit and saw the potential in a movement.
Over the last 10 years we’ve distributed tens of thousands of these stickers, which have resulted in tens of thousands of smiles, embraces, good will, and days made.
In the fall of 2023, Squeaky collaborated with a local brewery to launch the Always Be Nice Hazy IPA. The can featured the call-to-action "Drink One, Share One" as well as an Always Be Nice sticker that peeled off the can for immediate use Staying true to our core value of empathy and community support, Squeaky donated a portion of the proceeds from this release to World Central Kitchen.
